Indian Railways to run 18,000 special trains this festive season
Traveling home for Durga Puja, Diwali, or Chhath?
Indian Railways is rolling out 18,000 special trains this festive season, a big jump from last year's 12,000, to help more people get where they need to go.
To handle the rush, they've installed around 700 AI cameras at stations and set up holding areas at around 20 railway stations.
Indian Railways relocates ticket counters
Ticket counters have been shifted to these new holding areas and extra scanning counters are in place to speed up security checks.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also shared that over the past decade, 36,000km of new tracks have been added to reduce delays and crowding.
After running about 75,000 special trains in the previous financial year, the number is expected to cross 80,000 this year, so expect smoother rides all around this festive season.
