Indian Railways to run over 12,000 special trains this Diwali

India

Heading home for Diwali or Chhath Puja this year?
Indian Railways is rolling out over 12,000 special trains across the country—way up from last year's 7,724—to help everyone get back to family and celebrations.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says making travel smooth for everyone, both to and from home, is the main goal.

Ticket counters, waiting areas added at key stations

Most of these extra trains will cover super-busy routes like Delhi to Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, and Darbhanga.
To handle the rush, Indian Railways is also adding ticket counters and waiting areas at key stations.
Over 12 lakh railway employees are on duty to keep things running and help travelers out—no small feat considering nearly 1 crore passengers have already used these special trains this festive season.
It's a massive effort so you can focus on the festivities, not the hassle.
