Indian train rules protect women and minors from nighttime deboarding
India
Taking a train in India?
If you're caught without a valid ticket, there are some important exceptions.
For example, women and minors can't be deboarded at night for ticket issues, and staff who break this rule can get in trouble.
Here's what else to keep in mind.
Onboard TTE tickets, fines, helpline 139
If you board without a ticket, you can ask the TTE for one if there's space, but expect to pay extra or face penalties.
Ticket checks usually pause between 10pm and 6am so people aren't disturbed while sleeping.
Got problems on your journey, like noisy neighbors or seat disputes? You can call Railway Helpline 139 or reach out to the RPF or GRP for help.
