India's 1st bullet train to run Surat Bilimora August 2027
India
India's first-ever bullet train will start running between Surat and Bilimora by August 2027, as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.
Covering 508km at speeds up to 320km/h, it'll use Japanese Shinkansen tech: think super-fast, super-smooth rides.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says construction is on track, with more sections rolling out in phases after the first launch.
Tunnel hood tech, 7 corridors planned
The corridor will feature tunnel hood technology in eight mountain tunnels, a first for Indian Railways, to keep things safe and comfy even when air pressure changes suddenly.
Plus, seven new high-speed rail corridors are planned (like Mumbai-Pune and Delhi-Varanasi), aiming to connect big cities faster and make travel a lot easier for everyone.
