India's 1st-ever 8-lane Delhi-Mumbai tunnel under Mukundra likely June 20
India
India is about to get its first-ever eight-lane tunnel on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, likely to be opened to traffic on June 20, subject to final safety clearances.
This 4.9-kilometer twin-tube tunnel runs under Rajasthan's Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, aiming to boost road travel while respecting wildlife and nature.
Tunnel halves drive time, aids wildlife
The tunnel is set to cut Delhi-Mumbai drive time from over 24 hours to just about 12 hours, connecting major economic hubs across five states.
Plus, it's designed so animals in the tiger reserve can cross safely, making it a win for both commuters and conservation.
