India's coffee output now 380,000 metric tons ending March 2027
India's coffee output for the year ending March 2027 is now expected to be 380,000 metric tons, more than 5% less than earlier estimates, thanks to weaker monsoon rains.
While this raises concerns about supply and possible price hikes, it doesn't automatically mean your cup of coffee will get pricier, since the market depends on more than just local harvests.
Poor Karnataka rains threaten coffee exports
The drop mainly comes from poor rainfall in Karnataka, India's biggest coffee-growing state.
Since India exports about 70% of its coffee (mostly Robusta beans), a smaller crop could mean less to sell abroad and higher costs for buyers.
Still, what you pay depends on global supplies from places like Brazil and Vietnam, plus how companies handle sourcing challenges, so price changes aren't set in stone yet.
