Iran lets 2 Indian LPG carriers pass amid US tensions
India
With the U.S.-Iran conflict making everyone nervous about energy supplies, Iran has just let two Indian LPG carriers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, safely pass through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's ambassador called it a gesture of friendship and shared interests, which is a big relief for India.
India boosts local LPG production
The Indian Navy escorted Shivalik smoothly through the strait, while Nanda Devi (loaded with over 46,000 tons of LPG) is on track to reach Mumbai or Kandla soon.
With regional disruptions to maritime traffic, India's government has boosted local LPG production by about 25% and asked people not to panic-buy cylinders, so households can keep cooking without worry.
