J&K: Agniveer injured in encounter with militants in Kishtwar

India

On Wednesday, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police clashed with terrorists hiding in the Kalaban forest, Kishtwar.
Acting on a tip about 2-3 armed militants, security forces launched an operation that led to a gunfight.
One Agniveer, Kapil Kumar of 11 Rashtriya Rifles, was injured and airlifted to Udhampur for medical care.

Kishtwar has seen 6 encounters in past 7 months

Kishtwar has become a frequent site for militant encounters in the past seven months—six incidents so far—mainly because its forests and tough terrain offer cover to infiltrators crossing over from Pakistan.
Earlier this year, three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed here, and an army trooper lost his life in another clash.
Security forces are still searching the area using aerial surveillance and cordon tactics to track down any remaining militants.
