Joint Army and Assam Rifles killed Lenminsang Haokip, identity disputed
A joint Army and Assam Rifles operation in Manipur's Churachandpur district ended with the death of a man identified by security forces as a "suspected militant."
The raid, between Molphei and Songkong villages, led to the seizure of an AK-47, ammo, and explosives.
But local Kuki-Zo groups say the man, Lenminsang Haokip, was actually a civilian, calling the incident a "fake encounter."

BJP MLA Letzamang Haokip has demanded a judicial inquiry, saying the truth must come out and those responsible should be held accountable.
Letzamang Haokip, a BJP MLA, has also called for judicial and independent inquiry into the incident, and stringent action against all those found responsible.
Meanwhile, security forces are stepping up operations across conflict-hit districts to tackle ongoing violence between Naga and Kuki-Zo communities.
