Karnataka admits 803 voter IDs issued to 397 in Mahadevapura
India
Karnataka's election officials have owned up to a mix-up where at least 803 voter IDs ended up with only 397 people in Mahadevapura.
It turns out when some people applied for new voter cards multiple times online, the system treated each application separately, so they got more than one ID by mistake.
Chief electoral officer asks voter recheck
This happened because the process meant to clean up old or duplicate entries didn't fully work, especially when people moved and their names weren't properly deleted.
Now, the chief electoral officer has asked local officials to double-check everything for rigorous verification and necessary remedial action in accordance with the law.
