Karnataka government criticizes RCB's compensation for stampede victims

India

A tragic stampede outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's IPL victory celebrations left 11 people dead and over 50 injured, as crowds far exceeded stadium limits. Most victims were young—college students and recent graduates. In response, the Karnataka government has raised its compensation from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh per victim.

RCB's initial ₹10 lakh compensation per family too low

The state government called out RCB's initial ₹10 lakh compensation per family as too low for a team of their size. After public outcry, both RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association have promised an extra ₹5 lakh per affected family. The High Court says it's still early to blame anyone officially, as investigations continue. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also shared his condolences with the families who lost loved ones.
