Karnataka man kills best friend over ₹2.5 lakh
A man, Shafi, from Birur in Karnataka, has been arrested for murdering his close friend Puttaraju about ₹2.5 lakh.
On February 19, Shafi convinced Puttaraju to join him for a supposed gold auction by a finance company.
Puttaraju left home with the cash but never returned. His body was found the next day in a forest near Honnavalli.
Police connect the dots
Police quickly connected the dots since Shafi and Puttaraju had been friends for seven years.
After the murder, Shafi met his estranged second wife at a lodge in Arasikere, gave her ₹60,000 from the stolen money, and even bought her a new television.
Tracing the victim's last movements led investigators to Shafi; investigators later found he had met his estranged second wife and given her money and a television.
The case is still being investigated as police look into all angles of what happened.
