Karnataka plans hotline to report police and official misconduct
India
Karnataka is working on a new hotline so people can report bribery, harassment, or abuse of power by police and officials.
No more jumping through hoops. Home Minister Priyank Kharge says this line will connect directly to his office, making it easier for anyone to speak up.
Senior police officer Labhu Ram, a special officer, is assigned to the project.
Bengaluru officers arrested for bribery
This move comes after several police misconduct scandals, including three Bengaluru officers arrested for taking bribes during a dowry case.
With public pressure mounting and the opposition BJP calling out more than 120 police suspensions, the government says it's serious about cleaning things up.
As Kharge puts it, they're focused on stronger reforms and accountability.
