Kerala approves ₹551.5cr Sabarimala pilgrimage budget from November to January
Kerala just approved a hefty ₹551.5 crore budget to get ready for the 2026 Sabarimala pilgrimage (mid-November 2026 to the third week of January 2027).
The move, announced after a review meeting held to review the pilgrimage preparations, is all about making the journey smoother for the devotees heading to the famous Lord Ayyappa Temple.
Kerala's Sabarimala budget nearly doubles
This budget is higher than the previous allocations (₹377.80 crore in 2025-26 and ₹326.97 crore in 2024-25); it is about 1.46x the 2025-26 allocation and about 1.69x the 2024-25 allocation — not 'almost double.'
The extra funds will go toward better roads, facilities, and overall management at Sabarimala.
Chief Minister Satheesan says the government is teaming up with the Travancore Devaswom Board to make sure everything goes off without a hitch for millions of devotees expected this season.
