Kerala budget allocates ₹100cr to renewables and green hydrogen hub
Kerala's latest budget is all about going green.
The state government has set aside ₹100 crore earmarked for renewable energy, green hydrogen, and alternative energy sources: think floating solar panels, pumped storage projects (PSP), and battery systems in local panchayats.
They are also planning to turn this clean power into green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green methanol, aiming to make Kerala a major Green Hydrogen Hub.
Energy sector: most ₹1,284.75cr to KSEB
Most of the energy sector's ₹1,284.75 crore budget will go to the Kerala State Electricity Board for energy sector development.
Another chunk (₹66.04 crore) is dedicated just for developing nonconventional and renewable sources.
Plus, there is a cool new scheme encouraging co-ops to become fully energy self-sufficient under the leadership of the Power department.
The spotlight on PSP technology shows Kerala is serious about storing green energy and cutting carbon emissions for good.
