Kerala budget allocates ₹200cr for aviation, MRO, green hydrogen hub
Kerala's latest budget sets aside ₹200 crore to give the state's aviation sector a serious boost.
The plan? More pilot training, flight simulators, and bigger MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facilities.
Plus, a proposed Global Convention Centre and a proposed Green Hydrogen Hub, all aimed at creating jobs and making things greener.
Cochin Airport plans 2 MRO hangars
Cochin International Airport has provision to add two new MRO hangars to handle more aircraft maintenance.
They're also in technical collaboration with BPCL for India's first airport-based 4 MW green hydrogen project and looking into battery storage for their solar power.
According to CIAL managing director S Suhas, these projects could open up around 5,000 jobs and put Kerala on the map for aviation innovation and clean energy.
