Kerala budget launches Knowledge Valley, prioritizes maritime and aviation hubs
Kerala's latest budget is all about boosting opportunities: think better education, more jobs, and smarter use of resources.
The state is launching the Kerala Knowledge Valley to keep students seeking higher education outside the state from leaving, and has big plans to become a global maritime hub and South India's premier aviation logistics hub.
There's also a focus on tapping into the skills of senior citizens through a "silver economy," plus fresh moves on a comprehensive land management policy and a review of existing land laws and renewable energy.
Kerala budgets 400cr for Mission Samudra
The Knowledge Valley aims to bring top universities with cutting-edge research right to Kerala.
₹400 crore is going into Mission Samudra aimed at positioning Kerala as a global maritime hub by leveraging ports such as Vizhinjam and 17 others, while ₹200 crore will back new aviation projects like Aeropark and Aerocity.
The government wants to fix up KIIFB (the state's main infrastructure fund) with expert guidance.
On top of that, there's a plan to use unused land for investments, set up programs for seniors' expertise, and make treatment direct assistance for healthcare and education costs.
