The plan? Bring the roads, bypasses and junctions in Kerala up to international standards, update the Public Works Department rulebook, and even launch a new "Road Architecture Wing" to keep things sharp.
Kerala plans BM/BC upgrades, AI monitoring
Expect smoother drives soon: all public works roads are set for an upgrade to high-quality Bituminous Macadam (BM) and Bituminous Concrete (BC) within five years.
There's also an AI-powered system coming to spot road issues faster.
Major projects include a new Outer Ring Road connecting Vizhinjam port, a bridge for the Punchakolli-Alakkal tribal village, an elevated highway to Kozhikode Airport, a skywalk in Kottayam, plus fresh funds for land buys and bypasses, all aimed at making travel across Kerala quicker and safer.
