Kerala court denies bail to activist Rahul Easwar
Rahul Easwar, a Kerala activist, was denied bail after being arrested for allegedly revealing the identity of a rape survivor linked to Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
The court said his social media posts could disrupt the ongoing investigation and felt releasing him now might risk tampering with evidence, since things are still at an early stage.
Why the court is worried
A big reason for denying bail was concern that Easwar could tamper with digital evidence. Prosecutors pointed to YouTube videos as proof, even though Easwar denied any wrongdoing.
The case against Mamkootathil got serious after leaked audio clips led to his suspension from Congress in August.
Right now, a Special Investigation Team is digging into the case against Mamkootathil and reviewing all related digital content.
