Kerala HC puts hold on arrest of expelled MLA Rahul Mamkootathil

India

The Kerala High Court has paused the arrest of Rahul Mamkootathil, an expelled Congress MLA facing serious allegations of rape and forced abortion.
The court will hear his anticipatory bail plea on December 15, 2025, and said he can't be arrested until then.
Mamkootathil insists he's innocent and says there's no need for him to be taken into custody.

Fresh accusation and bail setbacks

This week, a second person from Bengaluru filed new accusations against Mamkootathil.
Earlier, a Thiruvananthapuram court had already denied him anticipatory bail in the first case.
He claims his initial relationship was consensual but turned sour, leading to these charges.
Mamkootathil also alleges flaws in the investigation and says he has proof to back up his side.
He's open to cooperating if he's protected from arrest.
