Kerala High Court orders police protection for 2025 Kumbh woman
The Kerala High Court has told local police to protect a young woman who went viral at the 2025 Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, after she said she feared for her safety.
Her father accused her husband of kidnapping and claimed she's underage, but the court said she "ought to be afforded protection for her life" and asked state officials to respond.
High Court grants Farman transit bail
The woman married Mohd Farman in Kerala, even though her family was against it, and some senior CPI(M) leaders attended.
Afterward, her father filed a complaint that led Madhya Pradesh police to charge Farman under child marriage laws.
The High Court recently noted the woman appears to be an adult and gave Farman transit bail so he can seek further legal help.
The case is set for another hearing on July 10.
