Kerala launches 10cr plan to build Kochi Thrissur jewelry corridor
Kerala is rolling out a plan to turn the Kochi-Thrissur stretch into a major jewelry manufacturing corridor, aiming to make the state a global hotspot for jewelry design and trade.
Announced in the latest state budget, this ₹10 crore project hopes to create skilled jobs and build on Kerala's reputation as India's biggest gold consumer.
Kerala industry, merchants support jewelry corridor
Industry leaders are backing the move, saying it'll boost opportunities for local artisans, craftsmen and small businesses.
TS Kalyanaraman, Managing Director, Kalyan Jewellers, called it a big win for Kerala's business scene.
The Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants's Association is also on board: they hope this will bring back manufacturers who left for other states.
With Thrissur already known as India's gold capital, this project could put Kerala on the global map for jewelry craftsmanship.
