Kolkata: Crude bombs explode in residential area, no injuries reported
India
Early Saturday morning (March 7, 2026), a series of crude bombs exploded inside a closed clubroom in Paikpara, north Kolkata.
The blasts were loud enough to knock down the tin roof onto a nearby building's fifth floor, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Politicians are blaming each other
Police quickly sealed off the area and found more crude bombs, which they safely defused.
Locals are rattled: one resident thinks troublemakers planted the bombs to stir up unrest.
Politicians are pointing fingers: BJP's Samik Bhattacharya blamed TMC supporters for trying to scare people as elections approach, but TMC spokesperson Trinankur Bhattacharya called it an isolated incident and said the police are investigating.
