Kolkata to host mass Bhagavad Gita recital with 5L devotees

India

On December 7, 2025, Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground will see five lakh people gather for a massive Bhagavad Gita chanting event, led by over 2,000 saints and monks.
Called Panch Lakkho Konthe Gita Path, the gathering focuses on three key chapters of the text and is drawing devotees from across West Bengal, with special trains and big safety measures in place.

Why does it matter?

This isn't just a spiritual moment—it's happening as politics and religion mix more openly in Bengal before the 2026 elections.
BJP leaders are set to attend the event, which is widely seen as an effort to connect with Hindu voters and challenge the ruling TMC.
With recent tensions in the state, this huge gathering at a politically symbolic venue could shape both faith conversations and election strategies.
