Kolkata's SRFTI suspends classes until December 11 after RSS-linked clash
SRFTI in Kolkata has shut down classes until December 11 as student protests continue for 42 days.
The unrest began after a September clash with an RSS-linked group left several students injured, leading to demands for accountability and the vice chancellor's resignation.
SRFTI students continue Diwali protests
Students have decided to keep protesting through Diwali, standing firm even as the administration tries to restart academics.
In response, the institute has rusticated six students and at least 25 students have received show cause notices.
With hostels and mess services closed, many out-of-town students are making do with makeshift arrangements on campus.
The standoff has also seen two contractual faculty members and five resource persons were terminated from their jobs, showing just how divided things have become at SRFTI.
