Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth appointed new Army VC
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth is set to become the new Vice Chief of Army Staff on April 1, 2026.
Currently heading Southern Command in Pune, he will step into this key role while the Western and Eastern Commands remain strategically significant.
As vice chief, he will be steering operational planning, modernization, and coordination across commands.
Seth's experience will be crucial in this role
This leadership shuffle comes at a crucial time for national security.
Seth brings decades of experience. He joined the Army and has led everything from strike corps to major commands.
His recent stints include leading South Western Command and Southern Command, plus he is known for his focus on discipline and welfare.
Major reshuffle in top military leadership
Alongside Seth's appointment, Lieutenant General PP Singh (a Special Forces veteran) is taking charge of Western Command.
Other senior officers are also shifting roles to boost leadership on both the western and eastern borders.
The aim: keep India's military sharp where it matters most right now.
