Madhya Pradesh HC lifts stay on Abhishek Banerjee arrest warrant
India
The Madhya Pradesh High Court just lifted the pause on an arrest warrant for Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee.
The court said Banerjee did not show up or send anyone to represent him, so his request to keep the stay was dismissed.
The original warrant came from a special Bhopal court and had been on hold since November 12, 2025.
Akash Vijayvargiya filed 2021 defamation complaint
This all started at a Kolkata rally in 2020, where Banerjee allegedly called Akash Vijayvargiya, a former Indore MLA and son of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, a "goon."
Akash filed a defamation complaint in Bhopal in 2021, which led to the arrest warrant.
Now, with the stay lifted, further proceedings are set to continue.
