India
Maharashtra's Cabinet Sub-Committee has recommended withdrawal of 44 cases tied to religious, political, and social protests, including Ganeshotsav, Dahi Handi, and labor rallies.
Serious crimes like those against women or grave offenses are not being considered for withdrawal.
Maharashtra panel reviewed 133 withdrawal requests
A special committee looked at 133 requests for case withdrawals; 44 were recommended for withdrawal, 14 were sent for reconsideration, and 8 remained pending, while cases involving current or former lawmakers will go to the Bombay High Court.
Cultural Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Sub-Committee Ashish Shelar said this move aims to reduce legal stress on people involved in movements and protests.
