Maharashtra: Junior doctor assaulted in hospital ward full of patients
India
A junior doctor, Mohit Gadiya, was assaulted by a patient's relatives at a Jalgaon hospital on Friday.
The ward was already crowded with people injured by firecrackers, and when Gadiya asked the family to step out due to crowding, they refused and attacked him.
Patient's family moves patient to another hospital
Gadiya suffered a ruptured eardrum and bloody nose. After the incident, the patient's family moved their relative to another hospital.
This is reportedly the third assault on doctors at this facility lately, prompting resident doctors' groups to demand stronger security.
Police have now detained two suspects, and under Indian law, attacking healthcare workers can lead to serious jail time and fines.
