Man kills parents over alimony dispute in UP's Jaunpur
In Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, 37-year-old Ambesh Kumar allegedly murdered his parents, Shyam Bahadur (62) and Babita Devi (60), on December 8 after an argument over money and property, including his request for funds to pay alimony to his estranged wife.
Police say he then cut their bodies into six pieces with a metal saw and dumped them in the Gomti River the next day.
How the case unfolded
The crime only surfaced when Kumar's sister filed missing-person reports on December 12 and 13, 2025.
This prompted a police investigation that led to Kumar's arrest on December 14, 2025, where he reportedly confessed during questioning.
Officers have recovered the saw and a grinding stone used in the crime, while divers are still searching for more remains in the river.
A formal case is now registered at Jafrabad police station as investigations continue.
