Meerut: Father-son injured in police shootout over alleged cow slaughter

In Meerut, a father and son—Razzaq (47) and Usman (22)—were injured during a police encounter.
The two allegedly fired at officers while being taken to recover tools used for cow slaughter, which they'd reportedly hidden in sugarcane fields.
Police fired back, injuring both men.

What led up to this?

Just days earlier, police raided a house in Asifabad and seized 10kg of beef, arresting seven people including Razzaq's wife.
Interrogation of the suspects revealed where the slaughter tools were hidden.
The injured duo is now in custody and getting medical care as the investigation continues; authorities are also waiting on forensic results for the seized meat.
