Minor son kills mother over broken speaker in UP

India

In Kanpur's Rawatpur area, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly strangling his 35-year-old mother after an argument about loud music on June 24.
When his mother asked him to turn the volume down and then broke his speaker, things escalated—he pushed her and, in a sudden fit of anger, strangled her with her dupatta.
He then hid her body in the bed's storage compartment.

Victim rushed to hospital but couldn't be saved

The younger brother found their mother injured and got help from neighbors to rush her to the hospital, but she didn't survive.
Police say the older son confessed and are now looking into his mental state, with DCP West Dinesh Tripathi confirming that the broken speaker dispute set off this tragic chain of events.
The family had already faced tough times—the victim had been raising both sons alone for years.
Police are continuing their investigation and evaluating what led up to this incident.
