Modi spotlights natural farming at Coimbatore summit

India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 in Coimbatore, which saw the participation of more than 50,000 farmers, experts, and stakeholders from Tamil Nadu and neighboring states.
Modi encouraged farmers to try the "one acre, one season" approach and called for more scientific research into natural methods.
He also praised Tamil Nadu's rich agricultural traditions, like Panchagavya and millet farming.

Government backs sustainable agriculture

Modi highlighted the government's push for natural farming through a ₹2,481 crore national mission aiming to help one crore farmers switch within two years.
At the summit, he released ₹18,000 crore under PM-KISAN to support nearly nine crore farmers—showing a clear focus on both sustainability and farmer welfare.
