Mohan Charan Majhi suspends IPS Dayal Gangwar over harassment claims
Odisha just suspended senior Indian Police Service officer Dayal Gangwar after serious harassment allegations surfaced from the family of a late railway police constable, Soumya Ranjan Swain.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered Gangwar's suspension weeks after he was removed as additional director general (ADG) and attached to the home department as an officer on special duty.
Probe launched into gangwar chore allegations
Swain's father says Gangwar made his son do personal chores, like working at a gym of Gangwar's associates, buying protein supplements, and even giving long massages.
The family believes all this led to physical pain and mental stress for Swain.
An official investigation is now underway to look into these claims.
(For the record: these allegations aren't linked to Swain's lynching case in May.)
