Monsoon hits Delhi, spreads across Rajasthan, UP, Haryana

The Southwest monsoon has already covered the entire country by June 29—nine days ahead of its usual schedule, according to the IMD.
It kicked off in Kerala on May 24 (the earliest since 2009) and raced through Maharashtra, with Mumbai experiencing a rapid monsoon onset by May 29.

IMD issues alerts for rain in northern states

This early arrival is a much-needed break from the heat and great news for farmers, as it helps refill groundwater and reservoirs.
IMD has also issued orange alerts for heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh (Shimla and Kullu), plus yellow alerts for moderate showers nearby.
More rain is expected soon in eastern states thanks to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
