Moradabad: Man killed for ₹2.10cr insurance, father confesses

India

In Moradabad's Kundarki area, 30-year-old Aniket Sharma was murdered on November 16—not just for personal reasons, but also for a ₹2.10 crore insurance payout.
His father, Babu Ram (50), admitted to hiring three men to kill Aniket after suspecting him of having an affair with his stepmother.
What looked like a road accident was actually a planned murder; the post-mortem showed fatal head injuries from an iron bar.

Insurance scam uncovered; police probe bigger network

Ram paid ₹3.5 lakh to the killers and staged the scene as an accident, several months after taking out the insurance policy on lawyer Adesh Kumar's advice.
Police say Kumar—now on the run—leads a syndicate operating across 12 states that fakes policies and arranges murders for insurance money.
This group is linked to at least four contract killings and over ₹100 crore in fake claims.
Ram and the hired killers are now in custody as police dig deeper into this widespread fraud ring using fake identities and forged documents across several states.
