MP DGP highlights role of society in curbing rape incidents

Madhya Pradesh's police chief, Kailash Makwana, says the rise in rape cases is more about deeper social problems than just law enforcement.
At a recent meeting in Ujjain, he pointed out that things like easy access to porn online and changing values are having a big impact on young people.

TL;DR

'Need societal change, not just police work'

Makwana also mentioned that mobile use and alcohol are weakening the positive influence of families and teachers.
The latest stats are worrying: as of 2024, about 20 rape cases are reported every day in the state—a 19% jump since 2020.
He stressed that real change will need more than just police work; it calls for a broader approach from society itself.
