Mumbai gets heavy showers, waterlogging after nearly 2-month dry spell
India
After a dry spell since last month (August 2026), with barely any showers apart from a few passing spells, Mumbai woke up to heavy showers on Sunday.
The rain started late Saturday and kept going through the night, bringing some relief but also causing waterlogging in several low-lying spots.
Mumbai records 52.07mm rainfall
In just 24 hours, the island city clocked 52.07mm of rain: eastern suburbs saw even more at 72.71mm.
The IMD says to expect cloudy skies, more moderate rain, and the occasional thunderstorm in the coming days.
There's also a heads-up for strong winds (up to 50 kph) and high tides around midday and after midnight, so keep an eye out if you're heading near the coast.
