Murder accused celebrates birthday in jail; video goes viral

A video showing Srinivasa alias Gubbachhi Seena, an undertrial accused of murdering a rival in January 2025, celebrating his birthday inside Bengaluru Central Prison has gone viral.
The clip shows him cutting cake with a large knife and with an apple garland, while fellow inmates film the scene on banned mobile phones.
Seena was arrested earlier this year after allegedly attacking a constable.

Inquiry launched into incident

After the video surfaced online, prison authorities launched a detailed inquiry into how the celebration happened and how banned items like phones got inside.
Early findings suggest the party took place about four to five months ago with around 10 inmates present.
Officials are investigating who enabled the unauthorized celebration.
