Mysuru rooftop bar fire kills 2, 5 Excise officials suspended

A tragic fire at a rooftop bar in Mysuru on June 15 left two people dead and seven injured.
Turns out, the bar was built with flammable materials and didn't have the right permissions.
Now, five Excise Department officials, including a deputy superintendent, have been suspended for not catching these violations.
Yathindra Siddaramaiah: owner arrested, charges possible
Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah visited Mysuru on Tuesday, June 16, and confirmed the bar was running without a license.
He's pushing for tough action: the owner has been arrested and could be charged with culpable homicide, while cases may also be filed against negligent officials who let the place operate unchecked.
