Naresh Gujral duped via fake WhatsApp profile in RTGS scam
Naresh Gujral, son of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, got caught up in a major cyber scam between June 12 and June 16, 2026.
Scammers used a fake WhatsApp profile with his photo to fool his company's finance team into transferring crores through four RTGS transactions.
Family files e-FIR, nearly 70% blocked
The scam was uncovered when Gujral's daughter, Diksha, questioned the suspicious transfers. The family reached out to the National Cyber Crime Helpline right away and filed an e-FIR.
Thanks to fast action by Delhi's cyber agency, nearly 70% of the stolen money was blocked.
Gujral shared that while the bank had flagged the transactions, they were cleared after his CFO believed the messages were legit.
He praised authorities for their swift response and urged everyone to report cybercrimes quickly to limit losses.
