Naxal couple surrenders to Chhattisgarh security forces
Jeevan Tulavi and his wife Agasha, both long-time senior Maoist leaders, have surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh's Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district.
Their decision ends over two decades of involvement with the Naxal movement—a move officials say is a big blow to Maoist activities in the region.
Key area for India's anti-Maoism efforts
Tulavi was a divisional committee member and education commander with an ₹8 lakh bounty on his head; he trained new recruits and worked with the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army.
Agasha handled press releases and led cultural activities for the group.
Their district sits between Kanker and Gadchiroli—an area key to India's plan to eliminate Maoism by 2026—so their surrender is seen as a major win for ongoing anti-insurgency efforts.
