NC-JCM urges Eighth Pay Commission to relax attendance and wriil
Big changes could be coming for central government employees.
The Eighth Pay Commission is considering a new attendance policy; right now, you can be late by an hour twice a month without penalty; but after that, you lose half a day's casual leave each time.
Now, the staff union (NC-JCM) is pushing for more flexibility and some updates to work-related illness and injury leave rules (WRIIL).
NC-JCM seeks late leniency, injury pay
The NC-JCM has proposed letting employees clock in late by up to two hours total each month with no penalties, pointing out issues like traffic jams and strict biometric systems.
They're also asking that anyone injured at work gets full pay during recovery and keeps earning leave credits (no deductions under the Workmen's Compensation Act).
Over 1.1cr central employees, pensioners, families
If these recommendations go through, they'll impact more than 1.1 crore central government employees, pensioners, and their families, so these changes could make work life a little easier for a lot of people.
