Nita Ambani announces 130-acre Coastal Road Gardens for Mumbai
Chairperson of Reliance Foundation Nita Ambani just announced the Coastal Road Gardens, a huge green makeover for Mumbai's coastline, covering 130 acres.
Revealed at Reliance's annual meeting, this project is being shaped by a global team of landscape professionals and aims to give the city some much-needed fresh air and open space.
Coastal Road gardens host 15,000 trees
The gardens are still in early stages but already have 15,000 trees are already on site, with plans to have more than 60,000 trees.
Expect shaded paths for walking and cycling, open parks, public gyms, play areas for children, plus cool spots for arts and culture.
There will even be a tree museum and modern sports facilities (think cricket, football, tennis, kabaddi), making it a lively hangout inspired by places like Central Park in New York.
