India
Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar is set to handle its very first cargo flight, just days after opening for passengers.
With direct truck access via the Yamuna Expressway, NIA is aiming to become a major spot for fast-moving goods in northern India.
SATS hub handles 200,000 metric tons
The airport's new cargo facility, built by Air India SATS, covers 22,000 square meters and runs 24/7 with two freighter bays.
Right now it can handle 200,000 metric tons of shipments a year, but there are plans to boost that to 1.5 million metric tons.
The space is loaded with smart tech like paperless E-Freight systems and real-time tracking to keep things moving quickly and efficiently.
