Noida Police solve money exchanger's murder
Noida Police have cracked the murder of Ompal Bhati, a local money exchanger who was shot dead on June 11 after being lured with a fake currency exchange deal in Sector 12. The plan was set up by Mukul Sharma and Akash Upadhyay, along with Mukul's father Ajay Sharma and Aryan Yadav, who tried to rob Bhati but ended up killing him during a scuffle.
Accused had been trapping currency dealers
During their investigation, police discovered that the group had been renting properties just to trap currency dealers like Bhati. Officers recovered over ₹10 lakh in cash (including foreign currency), plus two pistols and ammo from the suspects. All four have now been arrested—two after a brief encounter—and they've also admitted to pulling off a similar fraud in Vasundhara. The case is registered under charges of murder and robbery as the investigation continues.
