North and south India brace for wild weather this week
Heads up: the IMD has put out alerts for both ends of the country.
Northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh are waking up to thick fog and a biting cold wave—travel could get tricky, especially in UP where fog is at its worst.
Down south, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka are in for heavy rain and severe winds and storms in the lowlands from December 15 to 17.
Delhi-NCR isn't spared either; dense fog is making mornings even tougher with poor air quality.
What else to know
It's not just the usual winter chill—north interior Karnataka and parts of Telangana are seeing colder-than-normal mornings too (think 11-12°C around Hyderabad).
The IMD has issued specific alerts and advisories, particularly for fog and cold wave conditions, and advises everyone to stay safe and take precautions if you're heading out early or live in low-lying areas prone to storms or cold snaps.
