Odisha forms 5-member technical committee for 5 rescued baby orangutans
Odisha has constituted a five-member technical committee to look after five baby orangutans rescued from Balasore's Bichitrapur forest on September 8, 2026.
The little ones are now safe at Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar, with experts from Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru, the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, and the Centre for Wildlife Health, OUAT, Bhubaneswar making sure they get the best care possible.
Orangutan babies receive care, police probe
The babies are under round-the-clock watch by caretakers and doctors, enjoying a healthy diet of milk, fruits, and vegetables.
To help them feel at home, they're given music therapy, swings, and soft toys. So far, some have already bounced back from fevers and colds.
Meanwhile, police are investigating how these animals were smuggled. The hope is to stop such illegal wildlife trade for good.
