PM Modi announces ₹35,440cr schemes for farmers, rural areas
On Saturday, PM Modi announced two major schemes worth ₹35,440 crore: the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.
The first is all about making farming more productive and sustainable, while also upgrading rural infrastructure.
The second focuses on helping India grow more pulses by expanding cultivation and improving efficiency.
Projects to strengthen cooperative growth
These schemes were rolled out on Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan's birth anniversary, highlighting the government's push for farmer welfare and self-reliance.
Modi also kicked off projects worth over ₹5,450 crore in agriculture and fisheries—including new artificial insemination centers in Bengaluru and Jammu & Kashmir, a fish feed plant in Tezpur, Assam, and an Integrated Aqua Park in Nagaland—to further strengthen rural communities and support cooperative growth.
