Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcases India's artistic gifts to leaders
On his recent visits to France and Slovakia, Prime Minister Modi went all out highlighting India's artistic side through his choice of gifts.
French President Emmanuel Macron received a Kalamkari Mahabharata painting from Andhra Pradesh, while Macron's spouse got a Pochampally silk stole, famous for its bold Ikat patterns.
Over in Slovakia, Prime Minister Robert Fico was gifted a hand-knotted Kashmiri silk carpet with floral designs, and President Peter Pellegrini received Dokra Brass Antelope figures crafted by tribal artisans, a nod to harmony with nature.
Narendra Modi gives regional cultural gifts
Modi also handed out Thewa motif cufflinks from Rajasthan (think: intricate gold work), classic < em>Charak Samhita texts, and < em>Thekua sweets from Bihar.
Each gift was chosen to spotlight different corners of Indian tradition: art, craft, intellect, and even food, making these exchanges feel personal and meaningful.
